Teaching

A multifaceted artist, Evan teaches voice lessons in classical, Broadway, pop, and other genres of singing. His studio accepts students of all voice types, whether they're experienced or just beginning!

The foundation of Evan's teachings is based on classical technique, with the purpose of promoting vocal endurance and power, as well as warmness and uniqueness of tone. Through his own experience as a performer, working for various opera and theatre companies throughout the United States, Evan has found that this technique can be shifted to fit perfectly into any genre.

A great deal of Evan's pedagogy style is based on that of the late Marlena Malas, with whom he studied while attending Juilliard. His approach to technique has also been shaped over the years through advice given by other mentors, including Renée Fleming at the Aspen Music School, as well as baritone Elliot Madore.

Evan also offers tutoring services for subjects such as music theory, ear training, and sight-singing. His education in these areas includes pedagogy training from Dr. Steven Laitz, chair of Juilliard's department of Music Theory and Analysis. Furthermore, Evan offers dramatic monologue/dialogue coaching, whether the student is looking to secure a speaking role or prepare for upcoming rehearsals.

Additionally, Evan offers services to help performers prepare their auditions. Much of his insight is based on his own experience auditioning for schools, vocal competitions, young artist programs, and managers, as well as regional theatre companies, productions on Broadway, and the Walt Disney Company. He has also secured contracts via “Straw-Hat” mass auditions in New York City and beyond. His students have booked various opportunities, including 29Hr Reading Actors’ Equity workshops in New York City.

Above all, however, Evan strives to help his students find their fullest sound, combined with freedom and healthy release, while encouraging musical and artistic choices that showcase the singer's unique and true voice.
